Taj Mahal

Agra Fort
Agra fort is also known as Red fort of Agra as it is made of red sandstone. It was constructed by Emperor Akbar starting in the year 1565 and was completed in 1573. Around 2.5 kilometres (1.6 miles) long, the fort’s walls are made of huge red sandstone, which is what makes it so famous. The fort also have several gateways like Delhi gate, the Amar Singh gate which shows the Mughal designs and craftmanship. Agra Fort is located 2.5kms from Taj Mahal. Mehtab Bagh
Situated on the Yamuna River’s northern bank in Agra, Mehtab Bagh, commonly referred to as the Moonlight Garden, is a historic garden complex. It is well-known for its historic significance and tranquil beauty, and it also provides a breathtaking view of Taj Mahal. The purpose of this garden was to provide an unhindered view of the Taj Mahal from across the river, particularly during the full moon.

Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah
The Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah is also known as Baby taj and is often recognised because of its marvellous marble work. Empress Noor Jahan, the wife of Mughal Emperor Jahangir, commissioned the monument in honour of her father, Mirza Ghiyas Beg, who came to be known as Itimad-ud-Daulah (Pillar of the State).
The tomb’s construction took place between 1622 and 1628. It is among the first structures constructed entirely of white marble in Mughal architecture.

Jama Masjid, Agra
In the centre of Agra lies a magnificent and ancient mosque called the Jama Masjid. It is a monument that reflects the architectural skills and religious dedication of the Mughals, distinguished by its towering grandeur and historical significance. During 1648 and 1658, Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan constructed the Jama Masjid located in Agra. As a reflection of Shah Jahan’s architectural aspirations, it was built at the same time as the Red Fort and the Taj Mahal. In keeping with Shah Jahan’s previous architectural endeavours in the city, the mosque was designed to be a significant religious and civic meeting spot in Agra. When entering the mosque, visitors are advised to dress modestly. Before entering the prayer hall, it is customary for people to take off their shoes, and women can be asked to cover their heads. Tourists are not allowed in during the hours of afternoon prayer. And because Friday is the day for special prayers, Jama Masjid remains closed for non-Muslims on that day.

Mariam’s Tomb
The mother of Jahangir and the principal wife of Emperor Akbar was Mariam-uz-Zamani, sometimes called Mariam-uz-Zamani Begum. She was well-respected and held a significant position in the Mughal court.
Soon after Mariam-uz-Zamani’s death in 1622, in 1623, Emperor Jahangir began construction of the mausoleum. Given Jahangir’s deep regard for his mother, the mausoleum was built as a memorial to her. Mariam’s Tomb is 15.8kms (25 mins approx.) from Taj Mahal.
